Frequently asked questions
What is the current GE tax?
2% of the sale price per item, rounded down, capped at 5,000,000 coins per item. It was raised from 1% on 29 May 2025.
Who pays the tax?
The seller. The buyer pays the listed price; the seller receives the price minus the tax.
Which items are exempt?
Old school bonds and a list of low-value items such as basic food, low-level ammo, common teleport tablets and tools. The calculator checks the item name against that list.
Does tax apply when selling gold to Expos.GG?
No — the GE tax only applies to Grand Exchange trades. Selling gold to us uses our live sell rate, shown under the result.
